For over forty years, we have been fortunate to provide thousands of kids and their families with Holiday cheer a three-month program featuring, gifts and food baskets for the holiday season — all kicked off by our November tree lighting event.
In 2021 and 2022 despite COVID-19, we ensured our Miracle On 1st Street holiday program continued. What we did was recruit a fleet of Hollenbeck supporters to take holiday gifts to the community in their homes and we called in Miracle on 1st Street — on wheels.
However, we cannot do it without your help or support.

Back in 1981, when the Hollenbeck Christmas program began, it gave out a modest 50 toys to local children in the Boyle Heights communities. Today forty years later, the Miracle on 1st Street gives out over 10,000 toys to inner city communities across Los Angeles. And also features holiday spirit by adding a winter wonderland event, with four city blocks of entertainment, food, Santa’s lane, game, and celebrity interaction — kicked off by a community parade — usually with notable grand marshals, Kobe Bryant, Dax Sheppard, Tom Arnold, Hilda Solis to name a few.. a who’s who of local leaders and sports figures and Hollywood stars.

Miracle on First Street has been supported and hosted by mega-celebrities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wayne Brady, Kobe and Vanessa Bryant, Dax Sheppard, Oscar De La Hoya, and Tom Arnold — drawing city-wide attention to Hollenbeck and surrounding communities during the holiday season.
